Photographer. Son of Nathan Atkinson Aldersley (1826-1899), and his 1st wife Sarah (née Green) (1828-1864). Known as DJ, or Jim. Travelled to New Zealand with his wife Maria (née Hodgson) and 4 children on board SS Rimutaka, arriving in Wellington 8 Oct 1895. Photographer whose early pictures bear the legend D J Aldersley, Tasman St. Later had a studio at 20 Moir St, and then moved to new home "Ingleboro" in High Street, Lower Hutt.
