Havelock decorated for His Royal Highness, Edward, Prince of Wales Visit in 1920. Shows decorations in Lucknow Street and the Commercial Hotel. The prince attracted very large crowds wherever he went. By the end of this tour which also included Australia, he was exhausted and disgruntled and after the tour he suffered a minor nervous breakdown.

Part of the town at time of Princes visit - are you settled down now & how are you getting on old sport & how is the good wife and fine boy. I still have pleasant recollections of our happy association in Wellington - We are both better now & I hope all well with you.
Kindest regards Ted Roche (Mr Roche was at one time the Postmaster at Havelock)
