Kaikoura translates in the Māori language to a 'meal of crayfish'. 'Kai' means 'food', 'koura' means 'crayfish'. Kaikoura is a town on the east coast of the South Island of New Zealand. It is located on State Highway One - 180 km north of Christchurch. Note - Okiwi Bay, also known as Sandy Bay, is north of Kaikoura
