Havelock From The Terrace

Havelock From The Terrace

In the foreground the two cottages nearest the camera are showing evidence of well established fruit trees. The backyard served multiple purposes. It usually included a shed or three – a wood shed, a tool shed and a chicken shed. Compost bins, dog kennels, incinerators, garages and clothes lines were also found in backyards. Passed the 3 cottages in a line (Lawrence Street) - A good line of washing is strung up behind the cottages - is Saint Mary's Catholic Church and directly across partly obscured by trees the Town School.
