Anzac Memorial 25th April 1920, located in Lucknow Street, next to the Town Hall.

"In memory of those who had fallen". At the back of the Anzac Memorial is another memorial dedicated to the Master (Edward (Ned) Otto Peterson) and crew of the Schooner Ronga who were lost at sea after their vessel capsized in the Cook Strait April 22nd 1906. The owners at the time were listed as Thomas Hindmarsh Ker of Christchurch, ship-owner and Jessie Brownlee, of Havelock, Spinster.
